I started practicing Chinese calligraphy and painting in early childhood. I entered Nanking Teacher's College to study art in 1953; from 1957 to 1961 I was studying fine art in Zhejiang Fine Art Academy, China. I trained with the most famous contemporary Chinese art masters, such as Fu Bao Shi and Pan Tian Shou. I am experienced in both Chinese painting and Western art forms.
After graduation, I was employed by the university. In my thirty-year career as a professional artist in China, I have been exhibited in many national and international exhibitions all over the world.
In 1989, I immigrated to Canada and live now in Toronto. Immigration did not stop me from practicing and developing my art. Rather, it gave me a better opportunity to study Western art. As a contemporary Chinese Canadian artist, I pursue new goals. I use images and colours to express my love for my new chosen homeland. It is in this continuous learning process that I take the traditional Chinese art media to a new phase of developments.
